A moment’s silence, please, for the death of Mark Zuckerberg’s metaverse
by John Naughton | The Guardian
Dearly beloved, we are gathered here today to remember the metaverse, which was quietly laid to rest a few weeks ago by its grieving adoptive parent, one Mark Zuckerberg. Those of you with long memories will remember how, in October 2021, Zuck (as he is known to his friends) excitedly announced the arrival of his new adoptee, to which he had playfully assigned the nickname “The Future”.
So delighted was he that he had even renamed his family home in her honour. Henceforth, what was formerly called “Facebook” would be known as “Meta”. In a presentation at the company’s annual conference, Zuckerberg announced the name change and detailed how his child would grow up to be a new version of cyberspace. She “will be the successor to the mobile internet”, he told a stunned audience of credulous hacks and cynical Wall Street analysts. “We’ll be able to feel present – like we’re right there with people no matter how far apart we actually are.” And no expense would be spared in ensuring that his child would fulfil her destiny.
Lemonade Shows Why Artificial Intelligence in Insurance Is the Future
By Rob Starks Jr | The Motley Fool
This insurance company is implementing a bold plan to incorporate AI.
For the past two years, there was little evidence that Lemonade (LMND -2.80%) Chief Executive Officer Daniel Schreiber was correct in his belief that artificial intelligence (AI) would revolutionize the insurance industry. As a result, investors lost faith in Schreiber and his company, and the stock is down 92% from its Jan. 11, 2021, all-time high of $183.26.
However, investor confidence in the company has risen recently. First-quarter results revealed a positive trend in one crucial metric investors use to evaluate if Lemonade's AI-based insurance revolution can replace conventional insurance business models. As a result of signs of progress, the stock price has gained about 11% this year, more than the S&P 500.
So has Lemonade turned the corner in proving its AI-fueled business model can achieve better results than traditional insurance? If so, the company might prove to be the future of the insurance industry.
Let's take a deeper look.
MakerDAO planned artificial intelligence governance’s ENDGAME
by Andrew Smith | The Coin Republic
On May 11, MakerDAO launched a governance mechanism using AI and crypto tokens with a new brand.
AI backed up blockchain by MakerDAO
The creator of MakerDAO, Rune Christensen, said in a forum post that AI technologies would provide a “governance equilibrium” that would guide progress.
The Maker governance token (MKR) and the Dai stablecoin (DAI) will be combined under a new brand thanks to a number of the anticipated features that will be connected to new tokens.
The upgrade will leverage artificial intelligence (AI) techniques and apply them to “open, scalable processes” in order to “enhance efficiency, resilience, and participation.” The project’s short-term objective is to take the top spot among stablecoin projects in three years.
