The global Google search traffic for the organic term “cryptocurrency” is at the lowest point in five years, reflecting a shift in user sentiment. Even though prices of top crypto assets, including Bitcoin, are way above 2018 lows at spot rates, market participants appear apprehensive as interest fizzles.

Typically, crypto users closely monitor sentiment indicators, including Google Trends data, to gauge overall interest. Analyzing search data can provide valuable insights into how the broader audience perceives and interacts with digital assets. Rapid changes in search trends, as is currently the case, can signal changes in sentiment, which often directly impact supply and demand market forces.

Where is VR in its Industry Lifecycle?

Spatial computing – including AR, VR, and other immersive tech – continues to alter the ways that we work, play, and live. But there have been ups and downs, characteristic of hype cycles. The pendulum has swung towards over-investment, then towards market correction.

That leaves us now in a sort of middle ground of reset expectations and moderate growth. Among XR subsectors, those seeing the most traction include AR brand marketing and consumer VR. Meta continues to advance the latter with massive investments and loss-leader pricing.

Beyond user-facing products, a spatial tech stack lies beneath. This involves a cast of supporting parts. We’re talking processing muscle (Qualcomm), experience creation (Adobe), and developer platforms (Snap). These picks and shovels are the engines of AR and VR growth.

As the International Space Station orbited 261 miles above Earth on Aug. 29, 2023, one of the space station’s external high-definition cameras captured Hurricane Idalia in the Gulf of Mexico. Hurricane Idalia made landfall over the Big Bend region of Florida on the morning of Aug. 30, 2023, as a category 3 storm. Winds measured 205 kilometers (125 miles) per hour as the storm reached land. Watch an animation of the storm’s wind field.
